
About Friends of Rachel Carson
Friends of Rachel Carson is a non-profit dedicated to supporting the Rachel Carson Program of Environmental Science at Cedar Park. We merged with Canines for Class to provide broad support for fundraising, classroom enrichment, outreach, and volunteerism.
Our Mission
To provide support and enrichment of the Rachel Carson Program of Environmental Science at Cedar Park Middle School through fundraising, advocacy, outreach, networking and volunteerism.
Our Purpose
Fundraising for ongoing support and enrichment of the Rachel Carson Program of Environmental Science including, but not limited to the following: Canines for Class enrichment and support; Staff compensation for additional time in planning and preparing 20-26 annual site visits (to be paid through BSD policy and HR); Teacher professional development and certification to support improved instruction; Enriched site visit experiences for all RCPES students; Bussing; Campsite cost; Classroom speakers; Science, camping, and PES experience equipment; Gap financing for RCPES programs, projects and experiences; Other supportive funds as approved by the non-profit as the needs of the school/program evolve. To encourage community involvement and networking after middle school. To celebrate 20 years of the Rachel Carson program and encourage growth and sustainability for “20 more.”
“Friends of Rachel Carson” is a registered 501c3 public non-profit and has merged with Canines for Class, a public non-profit 501c3. A volunteer Board manages fundraising, financial and participation activities. Individual audits will take place bi-annually. Appropriate insurance coverage is provided for board member and event liability. The IRS NP designation can be provided upon request. Organization Bylaws can be provided upon request. Insurance documentation can be provided upon request.
